Ms. Fortin helps students build career readiness skills through work-based learning opportunities in and out of the classroom. She partners with teachers and community members to help students earn industry-specific certifications and helps manage the Only in West County Student Film Fest.
In addition, Ms. Fortin manages an online job, internship, and volunteer board for WSCUHSD students. She helps students with their resumes, find jobs, and earn early college credit through the SRJC for their job, internship, or volunteer experiences. The United States Department of Education provides students who are citizens of the United States with FREE federal student aid through the FAFSA.
The California DREAM Act provides funding for students who are not eligible for federal financial aid, including undocumented students, but meet in-state tuition requirements.
Our College and Career Coordinator teams up with the SRJC to provide "Cash for College" workshops on campus that help families navigate the financial aid systems. All seniors, regardless of their school, are welcome at any of the SRJC "Cash for College" workshops.
We recommend all students apply for financial aid.
A gap year is a period, typically taken after high school graduation, where students pause their formal education to gain life experience through travel, work, volunteering, or other personal pursuits. It can benefit high school seniors as it allows them to explore interests, develop new skills, and gain clarity on future academic or career paths, leading to more informed decisions and a greater sense of purpose.

Students are encouraged to create an account at California Career Zone and take the 60-question interest profiler. After completing the questionnaire, the site will provide your top three interest categories, also known as your Morris Code (shown below), and a list of occupations.
Look through the list of occupations to see if anything resonates with you. If it doesn't, check out occupations and their requirements based on the interests CA Career Zone identified for you utilizing the O*Net Online Interests Profiler. Career One Stop is another site for career and program exploration.
Additionally, you can create an account and look at local demand for jobs in the Bay Area from the Bay Area Community College Consortium's Data Tables.
The Path website, co-created by Vice Principal Christi Calson, provides students with instruction on dual enrollment at Santa Rosa Junior College, success in higher education, and information on their SRJC counselors and outreach liaisons.

Volunteering is a great way to build up your resume and college applications. Some very common places for Analy students to volunteer are:
Ceres Community Project provides ill
individuals with free or low-cost meals
delivered to their homes. Volunteers garden,
cook, and deliver meals.
Redwood Empire Food Bank provides food
for community members in need. Volunteers
package food and load groceries for those
utilizing the food bank.
Last, check out Ms. Fortin's Job, Internship, and Volunteer Board.
