Hello, Analy Community—

Over the next several months, our campus will see a number of improvements. Already, The blacktop area at our student center is being prepared to receive six new prefabricated classroom spaces. Ms Mason’s Project Make students are helping to design the temporary learning space they will be moving into there, and—once they are moved in—demolition will begin in the Northwest corner of campus to make way for a new state of the art facility. The new building will allow us to bring enhanced authenticity to the student learning experience in our Culinary and Hospitality programs, and our Agricultural Sciences and Agricultural Mechanics Pathways. It will also create a new focal point for the campus that includes collaboration areas, an indoor/outdoor event space, and updated gender neutral bathrooms, among other things.

This is all part of a series of facilities improvements that began with the HVAC work that made our Main building so much more comfortable this fall, and that will continue with renovations and additions to our East Wing and other buildings.

As Vice Principal Sanft mentioned in her recent Parent Square post, parking on campus will be impacted—at least in the short term. Ultimately, the campus improvement projects will give us additional parking spaces, however, along with a layout that will provide for clearer walking pathways to traverse the campus.

It will be noisy and dusty for a bit—but we can’t wait to see our students enjoying the new spaces!

Good news:  558 books were checked out this fall from the library!

Bad news:  323 are still out

Please encourage your student to return their LIBRARY book before Winter Break so that another student can read that book next semester.  Those books would be ones they needed for Independent Reading in English class or if they just love to read and get books from the Library. If they have questions, have them come by to talk with Mrs. McClelland in the library.

Mrs. Housh's Global Studies students went on a walking field trip to the Sebastopol Regional Library to vote on Global Goal Posters, Write letters to local Senior citizens and learn more about the awesome offerings the library has for teenagers!

In October, Students from the Eco Club & TCRI participated in Trashlantis, a community event highlighting zero waste.  Among the activities was an upcycle rally.  Students from Project Make 2 tuned up a quadcycle previously made by Make students.  The Trashlantis Tigers gave a valiant effort in the 10K traveling down the trail and into Sebastopol and the Barlow, even with bike chain issues along the way.

Shaping a Student's Future - We have several students expanding their learning and participating in an internship.  These experiences allow students to apply what they've learned in the classroom to real-life scenarios.  This connection between academics and the workplace deepens understanding across all career paths.  Also, we are pleased that students are getting a head start on their future by being dual enrolled with the SRJC and earning college credits!   If you have a part-time job vacancy or would like to host an internship, please reach out to me! ~ Kindly,  Stacy Fortin -Work-Based Learning Coordinator (707) 824-2355 sfortin@wscuhsd.org

Girls Flag Football under coach Abby Morales and Ricardo Garcia

In only the second year of girls flag football in California and at Analy High school, we saw remarkable improvement.  With 44 girls in the program, we were able to field both a JV and a Varsity team.  It was a very exciting season for both of our teams. JV ended the season with 8 wins and one tie, and and had huge growth along the way.. Varsity ended the season 12-3 after a lot of complete team wins and a few hard fought losses including 2 to an undefeated Petaluma squad and. A great team memory was beating Cardinal Newman 28-13 in our first home game. The resilience and togetherness of this team grew as the season progressed and the girls came together to end the season with a 32-6 win on their senior night against Novato. Somehow, a 12-3 team did not qualify for the first year of NCS playoffs in the sport and although we are still trying to wrap our heads around that, it was a very successful year and we are excited to see the sport continue to grow.  We are sad to say goodbye to 16 seniors but look forward to the future of flag football as it continues on at Analy.

The Lady Tiger tennis team under Coach Monty Delozier -Although it may not have shown in the win loss column, our players made great improvement in their games throughout the season. The Lady Tigers competed hard and had fun doing so.  We lost our best player, Bella Gee, to a knee injury last spring and everyone else had to step up in the lineup. We had a number of new players join the team who had never played before, including three freshmen who will help us going forward. Team Highlights included wins over Santa Rosa and Piner and individually,  Abby Sieg, playing #1 was voted second team all league. Abby Sieg and Maya Squires also made it to the finals of the consolation bracket in the NBL doubles tournament before falling to Santa Rosa.  Congratulations to our Lady Tiger Tennis Players.

Our girls golf team under Coach Mike Serrano

Achieved an overall record of 10-2 in match play. That makes our record over the past 3 seasons an astounding 40-4. For the second time in a row we have three all league first team players: Payton Bunch, Gemma Guerra, Simran Sahni. These three took all three of the medals in the NBL qualifying tournament. They also advanced to the NCS D2 qualifying with Payton Bunch advanced to NCS D1.  Oh and did we forget to mention we graduate no seniors from this class and we are already looking forward to seeing what this group can do next season!

Our girls volleyball team under coach Holly Folendorf

had a brand-new look this year with only 5 returning players, and 10 first time varsity players. The new young talent did a great job stepping into big roles and competing well against their opponents in a record number of 5 set matches. Leading  the offense for the Tigers were second-team all-league players, Junior, Layla Ramirez and Freshman, Sophia Dutt. Leading the tigers on defense and the number 1 dig earner in the North Coast Section, Senior, Lily Seidler recorded 536 digs and earned first-team all-league honors. Every player in the volleyball program displayed heart and determination, and with the young talent continuing to grow into their roles, the future of Analy volleyball looks incredibly bright.

Boys Football under coach Dan Bourdon

The Varsity Football team's season concluded last Friday with a hard-fought last-second loss to Ukiah on Senior Night in a game showcasing the resilience and potential that has the coaching staff excited for next year. With a young group, including multiple sophomores seeing significant playing time, the Tigers nearly finished the season on a 3-game winning streak and were battling for a spot in the playoffs til the bitter end. The team battled injuries all season and the coaching staff is especially proud of the leadership that Seniors on the team provided during challenging times.  The JV Tigers capped off an outstanding season with 9 wins and only 1 loss in a game that came down to the wire. The final game was a 6-0 defensive shutout that kept fans excited for the entire game. Beyond the gridiron, both teams finished with strong cumulative GPAs, an impressive feat considering there are over 100 student-athletes in the program. The coaching staff would like to thank Boosters, Band, the Cheerleading squad, Team Parents and Support Staff who help make Friday nights so memorable for our school. Additionally, thank you to all of the fans who show up to support the Tigers. We'll see you next Fall!

Analy Cross Country -Analy’s Cross-Country team excelled under the direction of coaches Coach Carole Hakstian and Blake McDowall. With the realignment of the NBL, Analy moved up from the Redwood Division to the more competitive Oak Division. Despite the stronger competition, the Boys Varsity team finished an impressive 2nd place at the NBL Championships last Saturday at Spring Lake.  Junior Owen Dawson led the Tigers with the individual win and was crowned the 2024 NBL Champion.  His time of 15:11 is the 2nd fastest time ever run by a junior on the Spring Lake course. Cormac Gaylord finished 5th, placing two Tigers in the top 10. The Girls Varsity team finished a strong 4th place led by Senior Captain Sakina Woods who ran a phenomenal race placing 4th overall with a PR of 19:01. Emma Wenzel-James and Stella Finley had excellent races, crossing the line in 13th and 14th places. In the Boys’ Frosh race, freshman star Jeffery Gonsalvez ran away with the win with a 17:33 PR. Jackson Tommila finished an outstanding 4th place to help the talented Analy Frosh team place 2nd overall. Coaches Hakstian and McDowall would like to recognize their JV Girls and JV Boys who showed great dedication and teamwork all season and represented Analy impressively in every meet.   Of special note, this season, EVERY XC school record was broken. Cormac Gaylord broke the course records at Ragle and a long-standing record at Woodward Park in Fresno. Owen Dawson broke the course records at Spring Lake and Hayward High School, both 22 year-old records. Also, the Boys’ Varsity team eclipsed the former Analy record on the Spring Lake course, averaging 16:22 for the top five runners. Congratulations to Owen Dawson, Cormac Gaylord, Logan Dickson, Quince Holman, and Choegyal Hergenrather.  Congratulations to our Tiger XC athletes for their hard work, dedication and accomplishments this season!
