Dear Analy Community—
Last week, a team of educators from around the state came to Analy to conduct our WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation visit. The visit is a crucial part of the process designed to validate the self-study that our school community completed over the last year and a half. Although we don’t yet have the final report from the visiting committee, I want to thank everyone—students, families, and staff—who participated in the process.
Time and time again, I heard phrases like “I wish we had that at our school!” from visiting committee members. I really can't emphasize enough the praise that they had for both teaching and support staff, and the kind things they had to say about our students, and about the breadth and quality of our programming.
In our staff debrief following the visit we talked about a number of ways in which we might build on the campus-wide work of the WASC process itself, and heard a range of ideas including:
continuing work in our WASC category groups,
using our action-plan goals to guide ongoing work,
and leveraging grade-level teams to organize impactful collaboration around areas for growth identified in the report.
We’ll be talking more as a staff about how best to take advantage of the work of the visiting committee once we receive the final report.
BIG shoutout to Ann Pederson and the WASC leadership team (Bethany Hoff, Taylor Dobbins, Jonathan Lopez and Katie Benson) for the tremendous logistical lift of organizing the process from start to finish. Tremendous thanks are due, also, to the students and parents who participated in focus groups, and helped to orient and welcome the visiting committee. Congratulations to everyone involved for being part of a transparent self-study that was honest, inclusive, and valuable.
Chuck Wade, Principal

Art students Richard V, Josie P, Ty K, and Quinn S. are working with Ashera Weiss, Art Start and The Sebastopol Grange to design and paint a mural of 3 large panels. The mural should be done and installed at the Sebastopol Grange sometime in April.

In addition to the awards and special recognitions, we are so proud of all of our students and parents who volunteered this week to help make these events run smoothly. We had over 20 students volunteer on Tuesday night until late in the evening (some staying until after 9PM). I received MANY compliments from visiting teachers and students about how professional, helpful, and friendly our Analy students were. They never once complained as they continually asked for more tasks and duties to complete. Thank you for having high expectations on our campus and for serving our students each day - our AHS students are amazing!

Hey folks!
Did you know students have the opportunity to earn LIFETIME Occupational Safety & Health Administration certifications? This semester, students in Sports Medicine, Woodshop, Ag Mechanics, Viticulture and Farm to Table are making progress in the units toward completion of the certifications. What's the benefit of receiving a certification while at Analy? Well, for starters it saves you money - all of the CTE certifications are free for students. Secondly, having certifications can give you a competitive advantage when applying for jobs. Lastly, some employers actually provide raises to employees who are certified! All certifications are free for students, and funded through the CTE Incentive Grant.
Today we would like to congratulate our certified students as of March 5th!

Under first year coach Mike Brady, This year’s Girls Varsity Soccer team battled through a difficult year in the always competitive Oak Division. Injuries took a toll, with only 4 of the 20 players being healthy enough to suit up for all the games. Even with the injuries the team fought hard and stayed competitive against some of the best teams in the NCS. Highlights include a 2 to 0 victory over league champion Sonoma Academy and a 2 to 1 comeback victory over NCS champion Cardinal Newman. This was the first time Analy has beaten Newman in 8 years. Individually, we are proud to announce Giselle White has been selected first team all league and Yiun Chiu was awarded to the 2nd team. Coaches Robin Johnson and Mike Brady are proud of how the players supported each other and their willingness to do whatever was needed to help the team. We look forward to having the majority of the team returning next year and congratulations to our two seniors Sam and Jaqui.

The Analy Girls Varsity Basketball team, led by first-year head coach Ben Morita, took on a challenging season in the highly competitive NBL Oak league, finishing with a 6-19 overall record. Competing in the North Coast Section, Analy played the 6th toughest schedule in Division 2, facing 22 playoff-bound opponents. They secured three wins over postseason teams—Novato, Rancho Cotate, and Ukiah—demonstrating their resilience and competitive spirit. Seniors Shawnessy Conway-O’Neill and Miley Ficher earned well-deserved recognition, with Shawnessy making 2nd Team All-League and Miley receiving Honorable Mention. With seven returning players eager to build on this season, the future looks bright. A huge thank you to our seniors for their leadership and commitment—best of luck in your next chapter!

As we gather to celebrate the end of an incredible season for Analy High School Cheer we reflect on the remarkable achievements and dedication of our 25 athletes who made this year unforgettable. The season began with an inspiring trip to the JAMZ camp, where two of our athletes were named MVPs, showcasing their talent and leadership. More than 80% of the team was brand new to cheer, and they rose to the occasion, proving their hard work and commitment. One of the highlights of the season was the heartwarming Homecoming performance, where 30 Analy and El Molino alumni cheerleaders joined the team for a special moment of unity and spirit. They were also proud to have awarded the first-ever Morton Bergue Spirit of the Tiger Award to Alyssa Hidalgo, who exemplified the true meaning of school spirit. Throughout the season, these girls have been a shining example of positivity, perseverance, and Analy pride. It’s been a season to remember, and we look forward to what’s next for Analy Cheer!

Boys Basketball under first year coach Nic Pederson... This team, like any team, had its shares of ups and downs... success followed by adversity and vice versa. Transfers, injuries, the size of your opponent were just a few examples of of challenges this team faced that they had no control of. Success for this team came from their response to these challenges.. Despite the record not being where they planned in the standings, there was a resilient determination with this group. They fought hard and they fought together for each other.
The highlight of the season was the double overtime thriller at home against Windsor (a renewed rivalry), in which the team had multiple opportunities to quit, but showed great fortitude to keep pushing to get the win in a fantastic team-effort!
Coach Nic is excited about the future of this program and wishes the graduating seniors well!

Coed Wrestling! In Patrick Utter’s 3rd season, numbers in the program continue to grow. The team started the season with 45 wrestlers. They went 2-2 in league dual meets and placed 7th in the final League NBL tournament. 5 boys and 3 girls advanced to the NCS tournament. Our seniors will be missed but with 25 of our returning wrestler being first year participants, the future of our wrestling program is very bright!

Our Boys' Soccer team concluded the season with an overall record of 9 wins, 5 losses, and 4 draws. Although this night is about the athletes, I’d like to mention that one of the wins notched Coach Peter Meechan his 500th win, let’s give it up for Coach! In league play, they secured 4 victories, 2 losses, and 2 draws, placing them 2nd in the North Bay League - Redwood division. Highlights from the season include: Qualifying for the NCS playoffs, losing a hard fought first round game to De Anza 3-1. Other great moments along the way were tying Rancho Cotati right at the end of regulation and tying eventual league champion Piner 1-1. Another notable accomplishment was winning the Consolation Championship at the Ripon Christian Tournament.

On Thursday Feb.27, Ms Oitzinger's AP Environmental Science classes went on a field trip to the Madeleine Sone Wildlife Preserve off of Furlong Rd. They planted 300 redwood saplings in a young forest that will hopefully become an old-growth forest someday. This important service work will help restore habitat that supports biodiversity, reduces erosion, filters air and water pollutants and sequesters carbon from the atmosphere to combat climate change.
